Welcome to Walking with Purpose at St. Theresa!

Mission Statement
Walking With Purpose aims to bring women to a deeper personal relationship with Jesus Christ by offering personal study and small group discussion that link our everyday challenges and struggles with the solutions given to us through the teachings of Christ and the Roman Catholic Church.

Have you ever wished there were more hours in the day? Do you want to be spending time on the things that matter most, but find that the urgent of each day is crowding out the important?  You aren't alone!

We may think balance is especially illusive in the 21st century, but even during Bible times, women felt this tension.  Jesus talked about htis is his friend, Martha.  "Martha, Martha," he said, "You are anxious and worried about many things.  There is need of only one thing.  Mary has chosen the better part, and it will not be taken from her".

Only one thing?  That seems managealbe!  Join us as we focus on "The Better Part" in Walking with Purpose!

St. Theresa will be offereing two levels of Walking with Purpose beginning in September, 2009:  WWP101 and WWP201.  Daytime and Evening sessions are available for both levels.  Childcare is available for the AM session only.  The course includes 16 small group bible study sessions (AM or PM) and 7 Connect Coffee Evenings.

Times:

  • Sessions are held on Tuesdays from September to May.
  • AM sessions meet from 9:15 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. (location TBA)
  • PM sessions meet from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the home of Patty Grywatch in Ashburn Farms.
  • Connect Coffee Nights will be held from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm at St. Theresa School.

WWP 101:   The small group discussion will focus on the book The Better Part by Father John Bartunek.   It is a dynamic, Christ-Centered book which contains the complete text of all four Gospels. We will study selections that correspond to the themes of our course such as: How can I get rid of fears or move past them? Why should I read the Bible, and how can I make it relevant to my life? What is prayer and how should I pray?   The monthly Connect Coffee night will give you a chance to enjoy coffee, wine, and good food while listening to a series of talks about six priorities that bring peace and fulfillment to even the busiest life. Registration Fee is $120 and includes The Better Part, the accompanying study guide, childcare, and all operating costs and supplies.

WWP 201:     The small group discussion will focus on the book Living As A Beloved Daughter of God by Patricia Mitchell. Prayer, mercy, the Eucharist, forgiveness, friendship, emotions, stewardship, and other topics are explored alongside relevantpassages from Scripture and the Catechism of the Catholic Church.  We so often think about how much better it would be if the people in our lives would change- then we’d be able to love them the way God wants us to. What we fail to see is that God is using the very things that drive us crazy to grow us into women who love like He does.   The monthly Connect Coffee night will follow “Loving Like Him”, a 6-part lecture series on how to show supernatural love. The pre-requisite for this course is WWP 101. The Registration Fee is $100 and includes Living As a Beloved Daughter of God, the accompanying study guide, childcare, and all operating costs and supplies.
